Zalando opens a warehouse in Italy: details

Zalando expands its network, announcing the upcoming opening of a satellite warehouse in Italy.

Italy has once again been chosen by an international e-commerce giant to host part of its business areas.
This time, Zalando is the one that decided to extend its distribution network using our country as a new hub.
The company, founded in Germany where practically all its activity is currently based, has decided to open a facility in Stradella, in the province of Pavia.
The giant specializing in the sale of shoes, clothes, and fashion accessories has chosen our country to open its first satellite warehouse in Europe, right within the “Akno” logistics complex in the province of Pavia.
In the coming weeks, work will begin on setting up the goods storage site, which, according to initial information, will cover an area of approximately 20,000 square meters, spread over three different levels.
Zalando’s management explained that, approximately, the permanent employees working in this warehouse will be around 170/180, with the possibility of temporary hires during certain periods of the year that require more staff due to intense work peaks.
Consider, for example, the times when new collections are launched, the sales period, Christmas sales, or periods of significant discounts and specific promotional initiatives.

In the very initial phase of opening at the new Stradella site, Zalando will only handle shipments, mostly for Italian customers. Only later – it is hypothesized during the next spring period – will the new satellite warehouse in the province of Pavia also start processing returns.
