Windows 8 to be released in 2012, it’s official

2012 will see the release of Windows 8, as stated by Steve Ballmer speaking to the audience of developers he met in Tokyo, offering the first previews.

It will be called Windows 8 and will arrive during 2012: these are the day’s news from Microsoft, released during the “Developer Forum” conference hosted by Steve Ballmer in Tokyo and reserved for developers.
Although very little has been said about it, the CEO of Microsoft has indicated that Windows 8 – which Ballmer called exactly that, so the name will presumably remain – will continue the work started by Windows 7, the successor product to the much-lauded Vista.
Not only that: considering the current focus on mobile, some suggestions for the development of Windows 8 should come precisely from the innovations of Windows Phone 7. This way Windows 8 could more easily adapt to the needs of tablet users: could this be the prelude to a future release of a Microsoft-branded tablet?
All this obviously falls into the realm of speculation, given that Ballmer made no mention of such a possibility.
Still on the topic of rumors, a very early beta of Windows 8 could already see the light of day in late summer, but again, a conditional mood is required.
More will likely be revealed at the next Microsoft conference: the appointment for the next developments is therefore set for the “All Things Digital, D9” event, taking place from May 31st to June 2nd in California, at Rancho Palos Verdes.
