Windows 8: Release Date Set for October 26

Microsoft officializes the Windows 8 release date: autumn will bring the fruits of this new work, on which the company is definitely betting heavily.

Everything is truly ready for the launch of Windows 8, the new operating system from Microsoft.
Communications Director Brandon LeBlanc officially announced the date on the company blog: the worldwide release date for Windows 8 is set for October 26, 2012, as Steven Sinofsky had previously anticipated.
Windows 8 will be distributed in 231 markets, with support for ready versions to be released in 109 languages.
Microsoft is giving concrete signals of how important the release of Windows 8 is for the company.
The first reason is that they have developed a product that aims to represent what could be defined as a “global” experiment: Windows 8 is positioned as an operating system for desktops, notebooks, and netbooks; at the same time, however, development has not neglected mobility at all, and therefore for the first time the Microsoft operating system will also be valid for mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones.

This is understandably a challenging endeavor, likely the most difficult test to date for Microsoft. After all, the future of this sector seems to be increasingly tied to tablets and similar devices, technological objects that have become commonplace in a matter of months. It is therefore impossible not to consider this “mobile” sector area further.
The upgrade to Windows 8 will have a quite affordable price, precisely to hope for a low-cost “viral” effect.
Even those who purchased a device from June 2 onwards will be able to obtain their version of Windows 8 by paying an extra $14.99.
