From October 5, 2021, the free Windows 11 upgrade will begin rolling out to eligible Windows 10 PCs, while PCs pre-loaded with Windows 11 will start becoming available for purchase.
Windows 11 Availability
The free upgrade will be gradual and measured, with a focus on quality. New eligible devices will receive the update first, followed by devices already on the market, according to specific criteria: intelligence models evaluating hardware eligibility, reliability metrics, device age, and other factors impacting the update experience.
Microsoft aims to offer the free Windows 11 upgrade to all eligible devices by the first half of 2022.
