The acronym E/N stands for Everything/Nothing, meaning blogs that talk about everything or nothing. According to some, however, this acronym originated from the abbreviation of Entertainment/News.
The history of E/N websites began in 1998 when the webmaster of a video game site decided to open a section where anything was discussed, except games. The section was called “Everything but the games”. The idea was very well received, and in a short time, numerous curious users gathered around the section.
Although blogs and E/N websites share common origins, the differences are quite marked and defined: while a blog often deals with a very specific topic, or collects the reflections of the authors who post, an E/N website is the virtual space where the webmaster and their co-posters (collaborators) write about any topic that comes to mind, without following a precise theme. Often, E/N websites have additional sections, with reviews, thoughts, articles, etc. Furthermore, E/N websites often feature pleasant and well-finished graphics. Blogs, on the other hand, tend to talk about the author’s personal life or specific topics and, since the main focus is on content, the graphics are not always well-maintained.
