Sony makes its debut in the “phablet” device sector and introduces the Xperia Z Ultra: here is a summary of its features and price.
Sony has recently unveiled a new device, exceeding industry observers’ expectations. Those who anticipated the launch of a new smartphone were instead dramatically met with the presentation of the Xperia Z Ultra, classifiable in the phablet sector.
Xperia Z Ultra indeed boasts a large 6.44-inch screen, positioning it halfway between a smartphone and a tablet.
This device is equipped with the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system, powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor running at 2.2 GHz.
The power delivered to this phablet is considerable, and its strong point doesn’t seem to be solely its touchscreen, although it’s enhanced by Triluminos technology.
It features two cameras: the main one is 8 megapixels but lacks a flash. However, it is capable of recording HDR footage and is equipped with a good Exmor-RS sensor.
The second camera is a 2-megapixel unit located on the front.
The structure is robust and, moreover, water-resistant. Connectivity is ensured by Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 3G, 4G, and NFC modules.
Rounding out the summary are the 3000 mAh battery and 16 GB of internal memory, expandable up to 64 GB.
The price of the Sony Xperia Z Ultra will be slightly over 700 euros: it is estimated that the version available in stores – not tied to mobile operators – should not exceed 729 euros.
