Sony Xperia U is a new Android smartphone that has been on sale in Italy for a few days: here is its purchase price and technical specifications.
Sony continues to launch new smartphones: the new era – the one without the partnership with Ericsson – is promoting the release of Android devices that are quite performing at prices in line with the technical features offered.
The Sony Xperia U is no exception to this rule and features more than decent specs at an acceptable price.
It is worth highlighting right away that the operating system, however, does not come with the latest version of Android: it natively has 2.3 Gingerbread and not 4 Ice Cream Sandwich. However, it should be added that an update after purchase is possible.
Regarding the processor, here is a 1 GHz dual-core that positively impacts the potential of this smartphone, supported by 512 MB of RAM and 8 GB of internal memory, which is not expandable via a microSD card.
As for the display, we have smartphone bar characteristics, with a 3.5-inch TFT LCD screen and a resolution of 854×480 pixels. Although it seems like basic equipment, it should be added that the display features Mobile BRAVIA Engine technology, so the result in terms of brightness, sharpness, and colors is high level.
The camera is 5 Megapixels, assisted by an LED flash and an autofocus system.
Regarding connectivity, the Sony Xperia U features modules for Tri-band HSPA (850, 900, 2100, 1900), HSDPA (14.4 Mbps), HSUPA (5.76 Mbps), Quad-band GSM (850, 900, 1800, 1900), Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, and Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR.
Regarding the design, Sony has launched decidedly unique color options: there is the version with a black case and white inserts and two versions with fluorescent colors, pink and yellow, always intended as case inserts.
As for the Sony Xperia U price, it varies from 199 euros offered by TIM (for a branded device) to about 250 euros in all phone and electronics stores.
On Amazon, for example, it is offered at just under 250 euros, in the white version.
