In the New Pavilion of the Fiera del Levante, the fourth edition of Smau will be dedicated to the most innovative technologies for business, from Apps to Cloud Computing, from Unified Communication to Smart Cities.
In the two-day event dedicated to business technologies, the most important players in the ICT world, including Fujitsu, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, Sap, Team System and Zucchetti, alongside their partner ecosystems from southern Italy, will welcome visitors with the latest innovations in devices, services, and technologies capable of permanently changing the way business is conducted. The protagonists of the upcoming edition will be Apps, Tablets, Cloud Computing, and the latest Digital Printing and Document Management Solutions, which will be the focus of workshops scheduled and displayed at the stands.
 To update visiting entrepreneurs and managers, the most prestigious Italian Business Schools will be present such as School of Management of the Politecnico di Milano, which will hold four workshops aimed at illustrating the concrete benefits enabled by the use of cloud computing, unified communication & collaboration, digital printing and document management solutions, and the latest tools for design and Sda Bocconi School of Management, which will present two exclusive workshops dedicated to Business Intelligence and IT Project Management.
There will also be training moments on topics such as virtualization, business analytics applications, electronic invoicing, web 2.0, digital marketing, innovation in retail, to name a few, told by professors and analysts within Open Arenas scattered throughout the pavilion.
Two Awards will focus attention on technological excellence of Southern Italy companies: the Mob App Awards, one of the new features of this edition, will award the best Apps in business and consumer sectors based on new generation mobile devices (new tablets, pads, and smartphones) presented by companies from Southern Italy, while the ICT Innovation Award Puglia will give recognition to companies and Public Administrations from Puglia that have successfully innovated their business through digital technologies.The calls to participate in these two awards are online at the website www.smau.it
Among the new features of Smau Bari 2012 is scheduled Smart City, an initiative, created in collaboration with Anci, the National Association of Italian Municipalities, dedicated to smart cities which will shine the spotlight on ongoing projects and best practices in Southern Italy to improve urban life quality and will highlight economic development opportunities for local businesses generated by such projects.
Moreover, initiatives dedicated to industry operators are multiplying within the Smau Trade, where they can get updated on new products and services, loyalty policies from major ICT players, and participate in events and initiatives by key sector figures. Inside the area, an Arena created in collaboration with Computer Gross will present a schedule of workshops focusing on topics such as virtualization, cloud computing, and unified communication & collaboration, aiming to present business opportunities offered by these technologies for the ICT channel. At the end of each training path, each participant will be able to receive a certificate made by Smau and Confindustria Bari and Barletta, Andria-Trani. Also scheduled are one-to-one meetings with the consulting firm Gartner which will carry out a check-up of the companies to define objectives and evaluate related growth opportunities.
From the laboratories and research centers of the South, the most innovative startups, as every year at Smau Bari, will have the opportunity to exhibit their prototypes and projects for free within the Innovation Pathways, seeking possible financiers and investors among the visiting entrepreneurs.
