An account linked to Silvio Berlusconi, but managed by a group of volunteers, is attracting the attention of subscribers because it has suddenly gained a large number of followers.
Even Silvio Berlusconi lands on Twitter and his debut on the well-known social network has certainly not gone unnoticed. Not so much and not only for the name itself, but for the fact that the account suddenly saw a following of an excessively high number of followers: about 70,000 in the last 24 hours on the social microblogging platform.
Behavior that is certainly not new: it is automatic to think that these are fake profiles – soon trackable thanks to the account The Fake Project which we reported on in the past few days – also because many of Silvio Berlusconi’s followers on Twitterappear to be Arab or South American users.
A peculiarity that is causing amusement and jokes, but also a series of denials from Antonio Palmieri, the Pdl’s Internet manager, as well as a deputy.
It is he who makes it known that no one was paid to buy followers and also specifies that the account @berlusconi2013is not an official profile but it is only an initiative of digital volunteers.
The account was actually opened on December 6th, but until last night it had no significant activity, nor many followers; then the sudden boom of new subscribers, most of whom, however, have the image of the little egg as their profile picture, which Twitter assigns by default as soon as you sign up.
This is one of the signs that leads one to hypothesize whether an account is fake or not, as it is a sign of no personalization.
If, therefore, the accusation of having purchased fake followers is sent back to the sender and if it is true that the account is not directly managed by Berlusconi’s staff, it should be noted that the tweeted phrases are instead often extracted from public statements by the Knight.
Naturally: the profile is managed by a group of supporters who, however, do not receive any compensation for this online presence but are committed out of political passion and admiration for Berlusconi himself.
Nothing official, therefore, but clearly the project of presence on Twitter is in some way accepted and endorsed from above if Palmieri himself has spoken about it and “justified” it.
