It looks like a tablet but it is not; it is not even a smartphone: it is Samsung Galaxy Note, the new device just presented at IFA 2011 in Berlin.
In a phase where tablets are dominating, with a clear supremacy of Apple’s iPad progenitor, Samsung decides to focus on something similar, without deviating too much from the smartphone: here is Samsung Galaxy Note.
An hybrid, a more evolved electronic notepad, since it’s equipped with more functions and web connectivity, even if the company’s own definition is textually “a new type of smartphone”; with its 5.3-inch Super AMOLED HD screen and its 178 grams, it appears very manageable and versatile.
Despite being touchscreen, the Galaxy Note comes with a stylus, very useful for more easily managing some functions, such as the S Planner calendar, texts – for example, those to be created with handwriting – or the notepad.
Speaking of the latter, it will be interesting to know that the memo functionality can also be activated via voice input.
Samsung Galaxy Note is based on the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system and has a 1.4GHz Samsung dual-core processor, with a 2,500mAh battery that should ensure a certain autonomy.
There are two cameras: 8 and 2 Megapixels.
Connectivity is obviously supported, to use this hybrid on the go.
Not much else is known: there has been no mention of prices, nor of possible release dates.
Before finding out more, here is an official presentation video of Samsung Galaxy Note.
