Samsung ChatOn will be the new messaging service for smartphones: not just SMS and texts but also photos, calendars, and much more. All for free.
Samsung is about to launch a brand new messaging service dedicated to users of smartphones and mobile devices: it will be called ChatOn and will be presented during the IFA 2011 event in Berlin.
What already seems to attract the Samsung crowd is certainly a much-appreciated requirement: the free nature of the service. Free download and updates, and at the same time, free messages and many features, always aimed at exchanging content on the go.
Samsung will equip all new devices with ChatOn but will also allow updates for terminals already in circulation. In the latter case too, downloading ChatOn will be free.
Users will therefore be able to easily exchange SMS, texts, photos, videos, contact details, and even calendars. A sort of application somewhere between the world of social networks and the simplest messengers.
The launch is planned on a global scale, so much so that ChatOn will be offered in 120 countries worldwide, with the ability to customize the language (62 languages to choose from are available).
Somewhere between a Skype-like, a pseudo-WhatsApp, and an evolved Bluetooth, Samsung’s new messaging service is sure to make waves, providing concrete savings in terms of SMS usage.
While awaiting further details directly from the IFA 2011 stands, here is a presentation video of Samsung’s ChatOn.
