PlayStation Network is down again: a temporary service outage raises new concerns for subscribers who, after last week’s hacker attack, are proceeding to change their passwords.
Another issue for PlayStation Network: for some hours now, there seems to be a new service outage. The situation emerged when some users, wanting to change their password, were met with a stop screen.
Officially, it is a maintenance phase, as Sony itself communicates.
A significant problem, given that – after the hacker attack on PlayStation Network – one of the recommendations given to avoid problems with personal accounts was precisely to change the password.
Apparently, the issue is not related to the Sony website in the strict sense, but to the site responsible for password recovery. The staff working on it communicated – via official blog – that they are working on a reset to bring the situation back to normal and, above all, they wanted to clarify that it was not a new external attack but simply a bug.
At this moment, everything seems to have been resolved; however, those who are still unable to change their password via the web can try using the PlayStation 3. Those who do not own one will have to wait.
So, while awaiting instructions regarding the Welcome Back offer (the one with which Sony will “materially” apologize for the inconvenience caused in recent days), users will have to continue to be patient and stay alert, to avoid further troubles that, hopefully, will be resolved soon.
