Retro design meets vibrant colors: introducing the new interchangeable-lens camera, the Pentax QS-1.
Ricoh has just introduced a new camera that undoubtedly stands out for its aesthetics.
Its name is Pentax QS-1, and it’s a mirrorless camera, the latest evolution of its predecessor model.
While the starting point isn’t particularly revolutionary or novel, the aesthetics have been meticulously crafted, offering the market a camera with very compact dimensions and a vintage look.
However, the available color options are what truly surprise: the camera can be personalized by choosing its casing in about forty different colors.
Regarding its technical specifications, the Pentax QS-1 is equipped with a 12-megapixel 1/1.7-inch diagonal BSI CMOS backlit sensor.
Sensitivity ranges from ISO 120 to ISO 12800, and it features in-body mechanical stabilization to reduce vibrations.
There’s also a mechanical shutter up to 1/2000s and an electronic shutter, which in this case operates up to 1/8000s.
The interchangeable lenses are all from the Pentax Q system, and – as is now standard even for entry-level cameras – this model can record FullHD video.
There are no major novelties or innovations in the mirrorless camera sector, nor within Ricoh itself.
The only standout feature is – as mentioned at the beginning of the article – its distinctive and appealing design.
As for the price of the Pentax QS-1, it’s rumored to be $499 for the camera body with the 5-15mm zoom lens.
Its release is scheduled soon in the United States, but the precise launch date is not yet known for either the American or European markets.
