While awaiting the release of Wii 2, Sony has announced a reduction of about 50 euros on the price of the Nintendo Wii. Discounts are also expected on game sales: a move that strengthens the hypothesis of the launch of the second version of the gaming console.
Nintendo has announced a price reduction for the Nintendo Wii sales price starting May 15th: approximately a 50 euro discount compared to the prices applied until now.
This commercial move does not particularly surprise seasoned gamers or industry players, but rather strengthens the hypothesis that the release of Nintendo Wii 2 is very close.
In fact, it is common practice in cases of new product releases within the same series to clear stock by discounting everything still circulating in stores and warehouses.
In Nintendo‘s case, it won’t just be the console that benefits from the discount, but also some games, recognizable by the fact that they will be branded as Nintendo Selects.
Currently, this discount – estimated at almost 30% or slightly less – will be valid only in the United States.
In practice, Nintendo is making room to welcome Wii 2, aiming for a particularly popular commercial strategy to attract those who do not yet own a gaming console or those disappointed by PlayStation Network, which has been under hacker attack in recent days.
The only difference compared to the “traditional” Wii bundle is the included accessories: this discounted version will come with a copy of the Mario Kart game along with a Wii Wheel. Previous packs, on the other hand, included accessories for Wii Sports.
What will Nintendo’s next move be? Many expect that – on the occasion of the E3 event – the Japanese company may officially present Nintendo Wii 2.
