It’s called “Newscron” and it’s a new app that allows the aggregation of news sources, coming from newspapers, magazines, and periodicals; all based on semantics.
A new app is here for aggregating your favorite sources for reading news, from online magazines, newspapers, and periodicals.
Its name is Newscron and it was developed by the Swiss startup of the same name – Newscron SA – which has decided to launch this new service in Italy as well.
This is not an app that simply aggregates favorite sources; the mechanism is more “profound” because Newscron fully configures itself as a multilingual semantic news aggregator, born from a project concerning the analysis of how much and how the quantity of incoming news can affect the behavior of the average user.
The staff at work – engaged at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich – has decided to continue studying and refining the app, given the high number of downloads recorded; for this reason, it has been decided to proceed by developing a semantics-based algorithm.
This, in concrete terms, helps to group articles of interest, filtering out “duplicates” and allowing a high degree of personalization.
The Newscron app is available for free for Apple and Android devices, as well as in a web-desktop version.
