The new Nintendo Wii U has been revealed, with the first previews presented at E3 in Los Angeles. The biggest innovation is the controller with a touch screen.
The new Nintendo Wii U is a reality, as we speculated right here on FullPress a few weeks ago, concerning the fact that the price of the Wii was reduced.
Officially unveiled during the most anticipated event in the industry – E3 in Los Angeles – the new Wii combines two standout elements: a concept that strongly recalls a tablet and a controller with a touch screen.
Naturally, the graphics are HD, benefiting the multimedia capabilities assured not just by the games but above all by the controller itself.
The device, in fact, besides having this 6.2-inch touchscreen, houses a microphone, two cameras, and speakers. An almost complete multimedia station capable of interacting with the TV and the web, all in the palm of your hand.
Nintendo Wii U therefore pushes towards augmented reality for the living room, for ever-greater player engagement and for those who simply want to use the controller to view photos.
What is visible on the controller’s screen is also visible on the TV screen: a good insight from Nintendo that allows for an unprecedented view for both the player and those watching the game.
During the presentation of Nintendo Wii U, however, the technical specifications were not detailed: specifics such as the device’s power are unknown, but it is known that there will be internal flash memory, potentially expandable, and an integrated browser.
The launch date for the Nintendo Wii U has not been officially announced, but it is presumed it could be in the second half of 2012, certainly before Christmas.
