Netflix conducted a survey on the performance of domestic providers while using its services during November 2015.
Netflix’s debut in Italy has undoubtedly generated great curiosity and rather positive reactions from newly registered users of the streaming platform.
For its part, the Netflix staff is carefully monitoring the Italian network in order to understand the speed and connectivity situation with the various providers operating in Italy.
To do this, the ISP Speed Index was used to measure the average speed in relation to Netflix usage during primetime.
From the released graphs, it can therefore be noted that the operator Fastweb leads, with an average speed recorded of 3.59 Mbps, considering both ADSL and fiber connectivity.
In second place, tied, are Wind and Telecom Italia, with 3.42 Mbps recorded for both ADSL and Fiber (for Telecom, satellite connection methods were also considered, as they are possible and therefore evidently used by Netflix subscribers).
Following them, we find Tiscali with 3.39 Mbps, over ADSL and fiber.
Vodafone enters this point of the ranking with an average speed of 3.35 Mbps for fiber and ADSL, while closing these measurements are two operators that only use Wireless connection. These are EOLO – NGI which registers a speed of 3.04 Mbps and finally Linkem, with 2.12 Mbps.
It should be noted, to provide a complete picture of both the ranking and, above all, the method of detecting and processing data, that this study relates only to the month of November 2015, thus fixing a situation that may be transient, like any study of this kind.
Netflix – only recently present in Italy – is a company that offers constant monitoring of its services in relation to local providers, wherever it has started its activities in the world.
Therefore, this type of research and ranking will be produced periodically in Italy as well, in order to better guide both subscribers and the Netflix staff themselves in the offering of services.
