LG announces that it will soon proceed with the Jelly Bean update for some recently released smartphones: here’s which ones.
In recent months, several LG smartphones – as well as devices from other manufacturers – have been released running Android 4 Ice Cream Sandwich, with the promise of an upcoming Jelly Bean update.
Now, movement is starting to be seen from the LG front.
The Korean company has indeed announced that in the coming months, a series of devices will be eligible for the latest operating system upgrade from Google. However, initial rollouts will likely be confined to South Korea, with potential expansion to other countries later. LG Italy, however, has not yet made any official statements, specifying that the models affected by the update are exclusively for the Asian and particularly the Korean market.
No precise dates have been given, but generally, all updates are expected to be operational by the first quarter of 2013, meaning by March.
Here is the list of LG devices that will benefit from the upgrade to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean:
- LG Optimus LTE II: update scheduled for November 2012;
- LG Optimus G: update scheduled for December 2012;
- LG Optimus Vu: update by March 2013;
- LG Optimus Vu II: update by March 2013.
As of now, there is no information regarding a potential update for the LG Optimus 4X HD: the press release issued by LG makes no mention of it, despite its presentation as one of the company’s flagship smartphones.
It is not yet possible to know with certainty when Jelly Bean will arrive on Italian LG devices.
