Ready for its global launch, here is the Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga, an ultrabook whose complete prices and features are now known.
Lenovo is preparing for the launch of its new IdeaPad Yoga ultrabook, which was presented – as a prototype – during CES 2012 in Las Vegas in January.
Surprisingly, however, the company has decided to develop two models of the IdeaPad Yoga, based on preferred screen sizes and differing technical characteristics.
A 13.1-inch model – the one previously known – and a second 11-inch device are about to be released.
In both cases, the chassis will be the same: made of an aluminum alloy and covered with a soft-touch material.
Otherwise, the two ultrabooks differ quite a bit, despite being conceived similarly. Here are the details:
- Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13.1-inch: The processors chosen for this ultrabook are dual-core ULV Intel Ivy Bridge Core i3, i5, or i7.
The RAM is 4 GB, expandable up to 8 GB, while internal storage is available in two capacities: 128 GB or 256 GB.
The price of the Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13.1-inch (assuming a base configuration with an Intel Core i5 processor and 128 GB SSD) is $1099, approximately €1000 in Italy.
Â
- Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 11-inch: A more basic user ultrabook, utilizing a quad-core ARM Cortex A9 processor and Nvidia Tegra 3 SoC.
RAM is reduced to 2 GB compared to the top-of-the-range model, as is internal storage, available in a single 32 GB option, expandable via microSD card.
Much more compact, the price of the Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 11-inch will be $799, likely around €700 in Europe.
Note the design combined with functionality: these ultrabooks have hinges between the screen and keyboard that allow the ultrabook to be “folded” to resemble a tablet. A key protection system also prevents unintentional presses on the keyboard, even when the ultrabook is folded like a lectern.
The release for both is expected to be confirmed for December.
