Kobo eReader Touch in Italy with Mondadori: Price

The Kobo eReader universe will cross Italian borders due to the agreement signed with Mondadori. Here are the details of the Kobo Touch launch and its retail price.

A new player enters the Italian ebook reader sector: it’s fresh news that Kobo eReader will also be marketed in Italy.
From next autumn, it will be possible to purchase a Kobo Touch, and thus, at the same time, access a myriad of ebooks.
The arrival of Kobo eReader in Italy is the result of an agreement reached between Kobo and Mondadori: the publishing giant will distribute the ebook reader in 400 points of sale of the chain, complementing it with a wide selection of titles to offer digital readers.
Regarding the price of the Kobo Touch, the first device from the Canadian company to arrive in Italy, it will be 99 euros: open and blatant competition for Amazon’s Kindle, which costs exactly the same.
For those who do not have a Mondadori Store nearby, it will also be possible to purchase the Kobo Touch online.
As for the technical characteristics of the device for reading ebooks, it is known that the technology used for page scrolling on the screen is Infrared Touch Technology, while the type of electronic “ink” used leverages Pearl eInk technology.

The capacity of the Kobo Touch is such that it can hold about 30,000 electronic books, and also has the possibility to further expand the internal memory.
Regarding the available material, Maurizio Costa (CEO of Mondadori) points out that the launch project for the Kobo ereader aims to follow the path traced by the iTunes model: “We want to publish at an affordable price. Apple has made it clear that a fair price, in some cases low, can be the best defense against indiscriminate piracy“, as he stated in an interview with the Corriere della Sera.
So, immediately after the summer, readers will have a new choice regarding ebook readers.
