“iPhone 5C” should be the name chosen for the much-discussed and anticipated low-cost iPhone.
Rumors about the low-cost iPhone continue to multiply: this time, a new photo from China suggests that the official name of the new device will be “iPhone 5C“.
On the image circulating online, it’s possible to see the parts that will compose the box containing the new iPhone.
These are glossy white plastic “shells”, on which the name “iPhone 5” stands out with a “C” inside a square and the Apple logo.
The website WeiPhone published this photographic evidence, where it’s also possible to read that the size of this container appears to be around 7-8 centimeters in height.
Despite the wealth of details, the photo has recently been denied by the editorial staff of the always well-informed Bloomberg: this publication states that the boxes shown in the photo are likely fake.
However, corroborating the hypothesis of the name “iPhone 5C“, Bloomberg states that it would be paradoxical for Apple to launch a new iPhone in plastic packaging: the company has always delivered products in cardboard packaging for environmental compatibility reasons.
It therefore seems very strange that, in wanting to launch a new low-cost product, this long-standing habit would be abandoned.
As for the hypotheses about the choice of name – the alleged addition of the letter “C” next to iPhone 5 – it’s thought that the “C” could mean “Cheap” or “Coloured”: both characteristics would distinguish the new iPhone, so in either case, they could be true.
If the rumors received so far turn out to be true, the new low-cost iPhone should be marketed starting in the fall.
