Cash withdrawals at ATMs via QR Code: it’s a reality with Unicredit

With the interactive “square” QR Code, it is now possible to withdraw cash from some ATMs.

Withdrawing cash even without your ATM card is now possible.
This will be possible starting today at Unicredit bank’s ATMs, which are widely available throughout Italy.
This will be possible thanks to the use of QR Code technology, the famous “interactive square” that – once scanned and with an internet connection – allows access to further content of various kinds.
To withdraw money at the ATM using a QR Code, you will need to access the home banking app and then you will be able to book the desired amount of money.
When you go to the Unicredit ATM, you will need to select “withdraw now” and enter your account credentials as an account holder; at this point, you will have to wait for the QR Code to appear on the ATM screen.
You will then scan it, and within 30 seconds, you will be authorized to withdraw the amount you previously booked.

Currently, Unicredit is the first Italian bank to launch this type of service, which account holders with iOS, Android, or Windows Phone devices can use.
A simple and fast mechanism, therefore, to get cash even if you don’t have your ATM card with you.
