App Safe Holiday is born for safe holidays and to know where to spend the holiday bonus. Free registration for the first 100 facilities.
To offer travelers preparing to book for summer 2020 a complete map of accommodation facilities, both hotel and non-hotel, that comply with regional safety protocols and to indicate which of these accept the holiday tax credit decided by the Government.
This is the stated purpose of the new app Safe Holiday, already online on the website and on the Android store, and soon to be published on the Apple App Store. Travelers who download the app can see, region by region, the registered facilities, check the cleaning and sanitization measures in place, ensure that the facility accepts beneficiaries of the 2020 holiday bonus, and book either directly via Whatsapp or through a travel agency.
The app was created by the software house Wiplab srl and the tour organizer and travel agency I viaggi di Jack Sparrow based on market research, carried out by the latter, which revealed that the need for safety is now at the core of the search for holiday accommodation and that the most sought-after facilities will be seaside holiday villages and mountain huts.
ExplainsEnrico Califano, sociologist and project manager atI viaggi di Jack Sparrow: “From a survey administered to 2318 Italian travelers it emerged that 59.4% of respondents will be influenced, to a significant or very significant extent, by COVID-19 in their decision to go on holiday, and that a full 61.7% expressed the same concern regarding their accommodation, confirming the intuition we had been working on for several months. We are now finally online and are populating the app before the official campaign launch: we will accept free registrations for the first 100 eligible facilities that wish to be pioneers and beta testers. We are currently looking for accommodation in particular in Val d’Aosta, Trentino, Friuli, Liguria, and Marche. Those interested can apply on the website”.

Safe Holiday presents itself as an easy-to-use and immediate app: in just a few clicks, travelers can identify and choose to contact accommodation facilities for their stay and verify the implemented health and safety protocols. A new booking channel which can be extremely advantageous since, through targeted communication, it resolves the current communication need of accommodation businesses to showcase the sanitizations carried out. In this way, Safe Holiday’s “tourist showcase” will also allow affiliated facilities to save on advertising campaigns as it reaches an audience not intercepted by OTAs or proprietary social media channels: those who, before booking their holiday, specifically seek reassurances about the level of cleanliness and hygiene of the environment.
The app is completely free for the traveler/user, while for the accommodation facility, it requires an annual subscription necessary to cover management costs: 110 euros for hotels and 60 euros for non-hotel facilities. The facility can independently upload the accommodation description, a maximum of 10 photos and a video, and the details of the cleaning protocols adopted within the app. It can also indicate if it accepts the Holiday Tax Credit and if it works with travel agencies. The hotel’s profile will feature a button to book directly which can be linked to the hotel’s Whatsapp account. Furthermore, for an additional cost, there is the option to integrate one’s own booking engine.”

Enrico Califano continues: “Our market research also shows that Italians will continue to prefer holiday villages, but only if established health protocols are respected. Furthermore, accommodations that naturally offer the possibility of social distancing, such as chalets and generally the entire non-hotel sector, will be successful. For this reason, we believe that Safe Holiday can make an important contribution by helping to certify those who are working well and investing in reopening. The information is entered by the owners and managers of the facilities, while we verify it by comparing it with information published online, also analyzing the reviews received. Furthermore, having contacts with the major Italian tour operators, we have detailed real-time information.”
