With the world’s fastest autofocus (0.03-second acquisition time), continuous shooting up to 24 fps with full AF/AE tracking, 315-point phase-detection AF that rivals professional interchangeable lens cameras, and an exceptionally versatile 24-600mm F2.4-F4 ZEISS Vario-Sonnar lens, the newRX10 IV offers a unique combination of portability and speed for professionals and enthusiasts seeking the ultimate all-in-one solution.

TheRX10 IV features the latest 1.0-type 20.1 MP stacked back-illuminated Exmor RS CMOS sensor[vi]with DRAM chip, the powerful BIONZ X image processor, and a front-mounted LSI chip. These key components work together to maximize the camera’s overall speed and performance, ensuring the highest image and shooting quality across the entire 24-600mm focal range.

Fast Focus, Fast Shooting

For the first time in an RX10 series camera, the newRX10 IV features a Fast Hybrid AF system combining the advantages of 315 phase-detection AF points covering almost 65% of the sensor with contrast-detection AF, enabling the camera to lock focus in just 0.03 seconds. This high-speed autofocus complements the lens’s extensive 24-600mm focal range, ensuring subjects are captured with extreme detail and sharpness.

Furthermore, for the first time in a Cyber-shot camera, theRX10 IV utilizes high-density tracking AF technology. Previously exclusive to a select few of Sony’s interchangeable lens cameras, this innovative technology concentrates AF points around the subject to enhance tracking and focus accuracy, making it easier to capture even the most unpredictable subjects, including fast-moving athletes or birds in flight.

New AF features in the latestRX10 IV include an enhanced version of the acclaimed Eye AF, Focus Touch, and Focus Range Limiter. The AF-ON setting can be assigned to a button, as can multiple AF modes, including AF-S, AF-C, and AF-A, which can be easily adjusted based on user preference and shooting situations.

An ideal complement to the AF system, theRX10 IV offers high-speed continuous shooting at up to 24 fpss with full AF/AE tracking, delivering an incredible buffer of up to 249 images. Thanks to significant improvements in the new camera’s processing capabilities, electronic viewfinder lag during continuous shooting has been substantially reduced, allowing photographers to capture the decisive moment with peace of mind. Additionally, for easier playback of photos, images captured with continuous shooting can be displayed in groups rather than as individual shots.

TheRX10 IV also features a high-speed Anti-Distortion Shutter (maximum shutter speed up to 1/32000 sec.) that reduces the ‘rolling shutter’ effect commonly seen with fast-moving subjects, and can shoot in complete silence in all modes, including high-speed continuous shooting, when the electronic shutter is used. A mechanical shutter mode is also available when required by the user.

24-600mm F2.4-F4 ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T* Lens
The 24-600mm ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T lens on the Cyber-shotRX10 IV features a maximum aperture of F2.4-F4.0, contributing to spectacular image quality across the entire focal range, all the way to the end of the super-telephoto length. The lens includes one super ED (extra-low dispersion) glass element and ED aspherical lenses to minimize chromatic aberration, and the ZEISS T* coating to minimize flare and ghosting.

The lens is equipped with Optical SteadyShot image stabilization, which helps to reduce camera shake and blur. When activated, it is equivalent to an improvement in shutter speed of 4.5 stops.

Additionally, with a minimum focusing distance of 72 cm (2.36 ft) and a maximum magnification of 0.49x at the 600mm end of the zoom, the lens is capable of producing surprisingly detailed tele-macro images.

Professional Video Recording
The newRX10 IV is the latest Cyber-shot RX series camera to offer the benefits of 4K recording (QFHD 3840 x 2160) and boasts a Fast Hybrid AF system capable of nearly twice the focusing speed of the RX10 III.

In 4K mode, the newRX10 IV uses full pixel readout without pixel binning, capturing approximately 1.7 times more information than required to produce 4K footage, thus ensuring that even the finest details are accurately captured. The camera utilizes the XAVC S codec[ix]and records video at up to 100 Mbps depending on recording modes. Users can record at 24p or 30p in 4K (100 Mbps), or with frame rates up to 120p in Full HD mode.

The new camera also offers a wide variety of other professional video features including Picture Profile, S-Log3/S-Gamut3, Gamma Display Assist, Proxy recording, Time Code / User Bit and more, as well as an external microphone input and a monitoring headphone output.

Super slow motion video recording is also available, with an extended duration of approximately 4 seconds (in quality priority mode) and 7 seconds (in shooting time priority). This exclusive feature offers users the ability to choose between frame rates of 1000fps, 500fps, and 250fps and between playback formats of 50p, 25p, and 24p.

Customization and improved functionality

The new
RX10 IV features Sony’s brand new 3″ – 1.44M dot tilting LCD display with Focus Touch and Touch Pad function – another first for the Cyber-shot RX series – for fast and easy focusing, as well as WhiteMagic technology, which ensures that the LCD view is bright and clear, even in the most difficult outdoor lighting conditions. Additionally, it is equipped with a Tru-Finder OLED XGA electronic viewfinder, which ensures true-to-life preview and playback functionality. It also has three rings for aperture, zoom, and focus, with a completely silent and smooth option for the aperture, ideal for videographers.

To improve customization, the “My Menu” function has been integrated, allowing users to assign up to 30 frequently used menu items. Menus are identified by colors, making them easier to recognize and select; furthermore, a Movie Setting menu has been introduced to improve the overall video shooting experience.

The
RX10 IV is dust and moisture resistant[xii]and is Wi-Fi, NFC, and Bluetooth compatible.
