Apple Mini iPad: Release Increasingly Likely

While Apple remains silent, as it typically does before launching new products, US media outlets continue to provide new information suggesting that a Mini iPad indeed exists and is on the verge of release.
Following leaks from Bloomberg and subsequently the Wall Street Journal, further confirmations have emerged from the pages of the New York Times, indicating that a significant development is imminent within Apple‘s product lineup.
It appears that the 7.85-inch version is strategically poised to materialize, possibly aiming to capture market share from competitors such as Kindle Fire, Nexus 7, or perhaps Microsoft Surface.
The reduced dimensions compared to its larger sibling, the New iPad, and previous Apple tablets would likely translate to a lower selling price, making the device more accessible.

The fact that the New York Times is now reporting on this further strengthens the hypothesis of the Mini iPad‘s realistic release. This newspaper has frequently confirmed rumors preceding major new releases from Cupertino’s labs.
In short, if a stronger and more concrete signal was awaited, this might just be it.
What’s more, the same NYT article reveals that the project to create a smaller iPad had been in development for a long time, since the early 2000s.
The prototype being worked on was 7 inches, but apparently, Steve Jobs opposed it, not favoring the idea of such a small tablet.
Considering the release calendar and the attention from both media and consumers, it’s not unreasonable to state that the tablet sector is injecting renewed vitality and dynamism into the electronics industry.
