With this new software update, NVIDIA SHIELD Android TV, available since last week in Italy, further strengthens its position as the best media player for streaming currently on the market:
- SHIELD offers the best image quality, being the first and only media player that supports HDR (High Dynamic Range), in addition to 4K Ultra HD.
- SHIELD guarantees a very wide selection, including Netflix, YouTube, Spotify, Plex, Google Play Movies & TV, and supports voice recognition with Google Voice Search.
With this new update, NVIDIA SHIELD Android TV now has even more new features that make it even more versatile and complete.
Below is a brief list of the main ones:
- PLEX Media Server, which allows transcoding of videos in H.264, H.265, and MPEG2 formats (maximum resolution 1080p) using hardware acceleration, even in parallel on multiple streams
- Netflix in HDR, which makes SHIELD the first Smart TV box capable of supporting Netflix in HDR
- Dolby Atmos, which ensures incredible Home Theater experiences with MX Player, SPMC, and the pre-installed photo and video apps on SHIELD.
- YouTube 4K 60FPS
- Console-level gaming quality, particularly appreciated by even the most demanding gamers who, starting tomorrow, June 30th, will also have Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel (Android TV) and Borderlands (GeForce NOW) available. Borderlands 2 will be available for SHIELD Android TV.
In addition to these new features, OTA 3.2 also introduces other minor improvements and new features.
