Fastweb Mobile switches to Tim and abandons 3: SIM card to be changed

Fastweb has decided to switch to Tim for its Fastweb Mobile services.

News is on the way in the coming weeks for Fastweb Mobile customers.
It is learned, in fact, that the company has decided to abandon the 3 networks to move entirely to services provided by Tim.
This news therefore accounts for the fact that this move goes in the direction, for Fastweb with its mobile division, of being able to fully begin operations as a so-called Full MVNO (Full Mobile Virtual Network Operator).
This means that Fastweb will be able to operate directly on all types of connected services, with the sole exception being the access platform: the latter, in fact, will be the responsibility and therefore the management of TIM.
This major change concerning the operator – from 3 to Tim – will also have effects from the perspective of the customers themselves: it will, in fact, certainly be necessary to physically change the SIM Card used until now.
At the time of writing, however, the card replacement campaign has not yet officially and factually started; customers will be contacted shortly through official channels, in order to follow the procedure to obtain the new SIM compatible with the TIM network.
There is a second aspect to consider but, it is important to emphasize, this will need to be verified in the coming weeks: logically, the numbering of the telephone prefix should be modified.
the numbering “373” is indeed typical of 3 networks, while TIM networks are characterized – regarding the attribution of numbers and services of virtual operators, as in this case – with the prefixes 3755 or 3756.

However, the details are not yet known, especially since the operation of abandoning 3 with the takeover by TIM has just begun and only from a strictly formal and bureaucratic point of view.
For the technical and material requirements, it will take time: it is hypothesized that it will take several months before starting the SIM card replacement process, also because the latter – relating therefore to Fastweb Mobile customers – are quite numerous, so there is a need for time to physically have the SIM cards and to replace them.
We are talking about about 1 million users: a high number that requires appropriate timelines for the various steps.
