Tablescape, the food social network created by Google

The Mountain View giant is reportedly planning the launch of a new social network: it’s called Tablescape and it’s all about food.

Google is clearly pursuing the goal of breaking into the world of social networking and, after various attempts, this time it’s launching a project with a very specific target.
In fact, according to what has been anticipated by some foreign sources – from the ElAndroide Libre website to Android Police – “Tablescape”, Google’s new social network entirely based on food, is about to be presented.
It is useless to deny and impossible not to notice: from Facebook to Instagram, through Twitter and so on, there are more and more photographs of dishes shared on social networks.
The trend is increasing: personal recipes, homemade dishes, food enjoyed in cafes and restaurants, exotic ingredients or local produce. Thousands of shots of this kind are taken every day and circulate across various social networks.
Not to mention the ever-increasing attention to food also given by the main theme of the upcoming Expo 2015 in Milan.
The news has not yet been officially confirmed, so these are rumors. However, screenshots have been posted on ElAndroide Libre showing the structure of the social network, very “similar” to Google +.
The homepage has also been unveiled, featuring the writing “Welcome to TABLESCAPE – Your community to make, share, and discover amazing foodographs”.

The keyword is precisely “foodographs”, the practice of photographing food, emphasized – in the case of the Tablescape platform – by red as the main color of the pages and by the division into different categories: from vegan food to homemade food and so on.
As this is information conveyed quite unofficially, it is not possible to establish a global launch date for the aforementioned social project.
Everything, according to the circulated screenshots, seems to be at an excellent point at least from the perspective of the general design; however, it seems that at the moment Tablescape is in an open beta version for use by a selected number of Google employees.
