The WhatsApp app could soon be accessed also via the web, through a PC: here are some rumors.
The planetary success of WhatsApp, the increasingly widespread instant messaging app, could apparently be destined to become even more explosive.
In recent days, the news – entirely unofficial, it should be emphasized – has spread that the system for exchanging messages, videos, photos, and audio tracks is about to be distributed also in a PC version.
The AndroidWorld.nl portal spread the indiscretion, which, by sifting through some old versions of WhatsApp, noticed the presence of some code strings that would suggest programming in anticipation of the launch on the PC platform.
From the screenshots taken, one can clearly read the expression “WhatsApp Web,” which would therefore refer to a specific function regarding the use of WhatsApp via the web through fixed platforms, not on mobile.
The discovery was made within the code related to version 2.11.471, while regarding the very latest upgrade, there seems to be no longer any trace of WhatsApp Web.
It is therefore not possible to establish whether work is actually being done on the diffusion of the application on PC or if it was just a timid attempt that was then abandoned with the next update.
Certainly, the future of WhatsApp will not be static at all: users are awaiting, for example, the ability to make voice calls via the app and, according to the latest rumors, the path taken by the programming staff would lead precisely to this next milestone.
It is therefore possible that the arrival on PC is also within WhatsApp’s “expansionist” ambitions.
