Sony presents Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, a new ultra-thin tablet resistant to water and dust.
At IFA 2014 in Berlin, a new tablet from Sony made its appearance.
Its name is Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact and it indeed presents itself with a very slim profile: a declared thickness of 6.3 millimeters and a total weight of 270 grams.
The display is 8 inches, Full HD, and uses “Triluminos” technology, surrounded by a frame with rounded corners made of stainless steel.
The material is quite robust, considering that this tablet has obtained IP65/68 certification, which guarantees its resistance to dust and impermeability to liquids.
The operating system running on the new Sony tablet is naturally Android, and in terms of components, it must be said that it is a rather powerful device.
The processor is indeed a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801: it is a 2.5 GHz quad-core CPU, supported by 3 GB of RAM and a Qualcomm Adreno 330 graphics card.
The versions differ in storage capacity: there will be a choice between the 16 GB tablet and the 32 GB one, both however expandable via microSD card.
Another difference between the various models will be represented by the connectivity modules present: there will indeed be the Wi-Fi only version and the complete one, with the added possibility of using fast LTE networks.
There are two cameras: the main one – located on the back panel – is 8.1 megapixels with an ExmorRS sensor, while the front one – secondary but HD – is 2.2 megapixels. Probably, being ultimately the “little brother” of the Xperia Z3 terminal, one might have expected a more powerful camera setup.
A special feature to note: this tablet is equipped with “PS4 Remote Play” which, in fact, makes it connectable to the Sony PlayStation 4, thus becoming a “branch”, so to speak, of your own gaming console.
All this with good battery life in use, considering the 4500 mAh battery. The company states that it can sustain 13 hours of video playback (considering high quality).
The arrival of the Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact on world markets is expected for autumn, so soon, in the coming weeks.
Regarding the price of the Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, it will be $399 as a starting point.
