There was great anticipation around HTC, just a few hours before the imminent presentation of its new top-of-the-range smartphone. And indeed, the presentation event for the new HTC One M8, successor to the very successful HTC One which still garners praise today, has arrived.
The HTC One M8 provides further improvements, starting with the screen which measures 5 inches, while maintaining the same Full HD resolution of 1080×1920 pixels (441 ppi).
As for the operating system, everything runs on Android 4.4 KitKat, while the core is powered by a 2.3 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with 2 GB of RAM. Internal memory can be chosen in two different available capacities: 16 or 32 GB; in both cases, it can be expanded via microSD card up to a maximum of 128 GB.
The camera setup is decidedly unique: the front-facing camera – therefore the secondary one – is 5 megapixels with a wide-angle lens.
The main camera is a combination of two sensors – to capture more detail – plus a dual LED flash and UltraPixel technology. While much has been done for still photography, from a video perspective, 4K video recording functionality has not been integrated, although it can count on Full HD 1080p footage.

According to the company, battery performance will also be quite high: a 2,600 mAh battery has been chosen, with Extreme power saving mode. This, according to what has been declared, should ensure up to 40% longer battery life compared to the previous model.
The audio compartment features BoomSound technology as its crown jewel, with front-facing speakers: a clear improvement in this particular aspect as well.
The release of the HTC One M8 is expected during the month of April and, as far as the price of the HTC One M8, it’s already possible to find information on Amazon, where the new smartphone is available for pre-order: the recommended retail price would be 729 euros, but at the time of writing, it is sold for 680 euros, in Anthracite color and with 16 GB of internal memory.
