The Nikon D5300 is the brand new DSLR characterized by built-in Wi-Fi and GPS modules: here are the price and features.
Nikon has recently introduced a new DSLR, increasingly focused on the concept of rapid sharing. It’s called the Nikon D5300 and is the company’s first DSLR to feature dedicated modules for Wi-Fi and GPS connectivity, allowing for very easy sharing of newly captured photos and videos.
We are, however, talking about a high-end DSLR, characterized by a 24.2-megapixel DX-format CMOS sensor without an optical low-pass filter (OLPF): this means the advantage is obtaining much sharper and more detailed photos.
The image processor mounted on this camera is Nikon’s EXPEED 4, which processes all shots quickly and precisely. These are captured with a native ISO sensitivity range extendable up to 12,800 and expandable to an equivalent of 25,600. Autofocus utilizes an intelligent 39-point AF system, with nine cross-type sensors in the center, and everything can be easily controlled thanks to the large 8.1 cm vari-angle LCD display.
From a video creation perspective, the Nikon D5300 features a function called “D-Movie function”: it’s possible to shoot Full HD videos with continuous Live View autofocus and an integrated stereo microphone. If desired, you can purchase – separately and completely optionally – Nikon’s ME-1 stereo microphone, which is perfectly compatible.
Regarding the lenses that can be paired with the camera, it’s important to note that the D5300 is compatible with the entire NIKKOR range of lenses.
The recommended price of the Nikon D5300 is around $799 for the body only, but you can also choose the combination with the Nikkor 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6 VR zoom, paying $1399 for the complete kit.
