Rumors from America suggest a reconsideration of Facebook’s Timeline, favoring a return to the wall style.
A few months ago, the announcement of Facebook’s Timeline (or “Journal“) arrived, met with discontent from many users: according to several, the new display mode made profile browsing more confusing and less linear.
This led to a series of periodic protests which, according to a rumor reported by Mashable.com, may have prompted a complete rethink, with Facebook returning to its origins.
Indeed, the discussion is about taking a step back, favoring a single-column display, exactly as it was before the Timeline was implemented.
Most elements would therefore scroll down this main column, while a space on the right could be dedicated solely to displaying friends, apps, and games (if used).
Thus, updates, photos, and interactions would return to being displayed fluidly and chronologically in a single column, without the need to constantly look to the right and left, as happens now.
According to Mashable.com, the new profile display mode has already been made available to a limited number of users to experimentally test the new single-column Timeline.
It is not yet known if and when this new feature will be extended to all subscribers.
This news should be treated as what it is: a simple rumor that still awaits official comment from the Facebook staff.
In fact, no one within the company has yet denied or confirmed the news.
If all of this were confirmed and therefore applied, the new Facebook display would once again please the numerous users who, since last December, have protested by creating dedicated pages to request the return of the “old Facebook.”
