Official announcement for the release of the Canon HS IXUS 500 HS, a very slim compact camera arriving in a few weeks. Here are the price and main features.
On the occasion of CES 2012, Canon presented the slim Canon HS IXUS 500 HS, measuring only 19.2 millimeters thick.
Despite its very small size, this compact camera features a 12x optical zoom which, combined with advanced imaging technologies integrated into the hardware, guarantees sharp and precise shots in all circumstances: whether you are outdoors in strong sunlight or want to take a photo in low light conditions, the images will capture even the finest details.
This is also thanks to the 10.1 MP sensor of the IXUS 500 HS and the powerful DIGIC 5 processor, two significant features considering they are also used in higher-end cameras, dedicated to advanced photography enthusiasts or professionals.
There is yet another tool supporting the Canon HS IXUS 500 HS: ZoomPles technology, a kind of “zoom amplifier” that can increase the 12x optical zoom by as much as 21 times.
The optical image stabilizer and Intelligent IS technology do the rest, making it easy to even capture HD movies.
All housed in a minimal and clean design, in true IXUS tradition, available in red, blue, black, and silver.
The arrival of the Canon HS IXUS 500 HS in Italy is scheduled for March, with a recommended retail price of 329 euros.
