Digital natives seem to have a natural familiarity with technological devices, leading to the proliferation of many gadgets designed specifically for children. This is the case for the new Tabeo tablet, soon to be marketed by the toy chain Toys ‘R’ US.
Tabeo will arrive in the brand’s stores starting October 21, 2012, practically coinciding with the launch of sales for Christmas gifts, a period during which business tends to flourish: a new device will likely receive more attention.
Tabeo offers a 7-inch touchscreen and the ability to connect to the web via Wi-Fi.
To get started with a load of fun, upon powering on, users will have access to 50 pre-installed applications, consisting of a series of educational apps and, of course, some video games, including Fruit Ninja and Angry Birds.
Tabeo has 4 GB of storage space, which can be expanded with a microSD card.

Regarding the technological heart of this tablet, it features a 1 GHz ARM processor and the Android 4.1 operating system. There is also a front-facing camera and an HDMI output.
Purchasers will also benefit from the Tabeo App Store, where they can download additional content to enrich and personalize the tablet.
At the moment, it is unknown if and how widely the device will be distributed in Europe; the October 21st date refers to its arrival in American stores.
As for the price of Tabeo, the company Toys ‘R’ US has officially announced it will be 149.99 euros.
