A new Kindle is about to hit the ebook reader market: there are rumors of a color Kindle with a touch screen.
A few weeks after the launch of the brand new Kindle Touch, it seems that at Amazon there is intense work underway to soon release a new device for reading ebooks.
According to the website digitimes.com, in fact, a color Kindle with a capacitive multitouch display is about to be released.
In fact, trying to imagine the future Kindle, it would be a hybrid device, halfway between an ebook reader and a tablet.
Certainly, it would have peculiar features more oriented towards pure ebook reading and the reason is simple: otherwise, this new Kindle would trigger an internal competition within its own “family,” dangerously entering the sector in which the “cousin” Kindle Fire dominates, as a tablet in its price range.
If the release of the possible Kindle Color — the name is absolutely a guess and a hypothesis — were confirmed, it would probably open up a new avenue of investment for Amazon in the direction of magazines and comics, for example: these two products, for obvious reasons, need to be browsed on devices that allow their colors to be admired, something that is currently not possible on the Kindle on the market, as it has a grayscale display.
Finally, according to Reuters dispatches, there is a strong likelihood that the new Kindle may be larger than its predecessors, thus abandoning today’s compact sizes, in favor of an 8- or 9-inch screen.
However, this detail seems more borrowed from the rumors surrounding the release of a new Kindle Fire, it is important to specify.
As for the price, it is speculated that it could be around 150 euros.
No confirmations or denials have come from Amazon: although the most optimistic across the ocean talk about a release by mid-2012, the timing seems too tight for an imminent launch in the next 6 weeks or so.
