iPhone 4S Exists: Code Traces Found in iTunes 10.5 Beta 9

Traces of code attributable to the iPhone 4S, which we have repeatedly referred to as the Budget iPhone 4, have been found in iTunes 10.5 beta 9.

The highly anticipated Apple conference, where the iPhone 5 is expected to be unveiled, is just around the corner. Simultaneously, the launch of an increasingly probable iPhone 4S is also gaining traction.
We discussed this previously on FullPress: according to some rumors, the release of what we then termed the “Budget iPhone 4” seemed likely.
There was talk, but confirmations were scarce until a few days ago when, following the release of the latest beta (specifically number 9) of iTunes 10.5, it was discovered that the code contains traces of “iPhone 4S“, explicitly named as such or sometimes identified by the code “N94“, as shown in the image attached to the article.
Reviewing the other reported characteristics, it appears that the iPhone 4S is virtually identical to the iPhone 4.
In the absence of official announcements, there are two hypotheses: it’s possible that the iPhone 4S is indeed the same as its predecessor, with only a reduction in available storage memory.
Alternatively, it’s possible that the developers in the iTunes beta decided to use identical names and codes for convenience.
We won’t have to wait long to learn more: tomorrow, Apple – through Tim Cook – will shed light on the eagerly awaited innovations for the Apple community.
