The Amazon tablet is nearing its market release: scheduled for November, it offers features that perfectly match its affordable price.
Amazon Tablet yes or no Amazon tablet? For weeks there has been talk of the device that Amazon would have perfected for a spectacular market launch, enough to outclass much more expensive rivals.
Building on the success of Kindle, Amazon has therefore tried to emulate the appeal of the ebook reader by developing a tablet truly competitive compared to those already present in the sector.
Almost like a myth, however, Amazon let the audience talk while waiting for the news, without ever fully confirming the project.
Until today: something has moved and it is now certain that the Amazon tablet exists and is well equipped. An indirect confirmation comes from TechCrunch which had the opportunity to receive an Amazon tablet and test it.
According to what can be read, the Amazon tablet – which we already talked about on Fullpress a couple of months ago – will have a 7-inch backlit capacitive touchscreen but above all will have a particular operating system: it will be Android but with a fully “Amazonian” customization, thus excluding the Android Market from the options for purchasing and downloading applications.
Apparently, the tablet will interact wonderfully with Amazon services and not necessarily with Google’s.
As for its capacity, it is likely that it is about 6 GB, so it is reasonable to think that Amazon wants to heavily rely on the cloud, as is increasingly the case in all tech sectors.
It seems that e-ink is no longer planned but that the screen is color and capacitive.
Not much else is known about it, nor are there certainties regarding connectivity: certainly Wi-fi is expected but not much is known about the possibility of using the Amazon tablet in 3G. If not, it would be a fair limitation of its use on the go.
Everything is still within the realm of rumors, including the anticipation that after the arrival of the 7-inch Amazon tablet, the 10-inch one should also come.
Perhaps it is premature to talk about it without first testing the market pulse. What can be hypothesized is the price so low (250 dollars) would certainly appeal to those who want a tablet but are discouraged by the much higher prices of devices already available today. Especially if the November release were confirmed: how to resist the chance of a Christmas gift (or self-gift)?
