iTunes Match Available for Developers

iTunes is progressing and reaches version 10.5 beta 6.1, made available to developers. The most significant innovation is iTunes Match.

The new beta of iTunes is here, but for now, it has only been made available to developers: iTunes 10.5 beta 6.1 is already available and heralds one of the innovations of the coming months.
We are talking about iTunes Match, the cloud-based platform that allows you to play music directly from Apple servers.
How does iTunes Match work at the moment?
The mechanism is simple, most of the work is done by the system: iTunes Match scans all of the user’s personal music and, recognizing it automatically, makes it available on Apple servers, thus eliminating the need to upload files from one device to another.
Thus, each account will be able to use this new cloud streaming service on ten different devices, with a maximum of five Macs and five iOS-equipped terminals.
The advantage of this system is that you will no longer have to upload large files: this remote possibility will only be used when the desired song is not found on Apple’s servers.
Of course, the option to download the song or album in question will always remain available.
Fundamentally, this system frees up a lot of space on your devices but – as one might expect – it is not a free service: we discussed the Apple iCloud project at the very beginning of the hypothesis still under study, and in fact, the rumored price seems to be confirmed.
iTunes Match will cost 25 dollars a year and will therefore allow you to manage and listen not only to tracks regularly purchased via iTunes or via other channels (including CDs, then uploaded to your PC) but – according to the most frequent criticisms – this method would in fact appear as a sort of “amnesty” for all those tracks not downloaded legally.
We will certainly return to discuss the topic, as iTunes Match and its cloud system are still in an experimental phase.
