Samsung Considers Acquisition of HP Hardware Business

HP’s hardware sector could be of interest to Samsung, which, according to some rumors, is considering its possible acquisition.

A few days ago, we reported on the sale of HP tablets at a reduced price: an event that highlighted how close the divestment of the hardware sector by HP will be.
This morning, some rumors have leaked, to which neither confirmation nor denial has followed, concerning the possibility of an acquisition by Samsung.
It is the magazine DigiTimes that reports on this, pointing out a first major observation (or coincidence?): an HP marketing manager has for some time “migrated” to the Samsung team, with pretty much the same responsibilities.
Another clue is Samsung‘s desire to focus on WebOS rather than the development of new PCs, notebooks, and tablets. Perhaps obtaining the “keys” to the HP operating system, also for integration into devices like mobile phones and smartphones, would be the core of the real interest.
The scenario could be realistic, considering that Samsung provided the devices to Google for its Google phones.
What does Google have to do with Samsung and HP? In a way, Google has probably outlined the need for Samsung to develop its own operating system, after the Mountain View giant acquired Motorola.
Although the purpose was patents rather than smartphone development tout court, it is still legitimate to think that the next Google-branded devices will be Motorola productions, so Samsung could effectively exit this partnership axis with the king of search engines.
It is not said that it must or wants to stop using Android, but certainly its own operating system would make Samsung autonomous.
If it is easy to think this, it is equally easy to hypothesize that HP might gladly decide to sell this specific business unit, rather than abruptly cutting it off completely.
