Browsing with free Wi-Fi while paying a bill: starting today, it’s a reality, as Poste Italiane provides free connectivity in post offices.
The time spent queuing in a post office can stretch interminably, and it’s not always easy to find alternative ways to stave off boredom. However, something has changed starting today: Poste Italiane announces the activation of a series of hotspots for free Wi-Fi in about twenty post offices.
To use this new, entirely free service, you will need to register by completing a form available online, which will generate a password sent via SMS to the phone number provided in the registration form.
Currently, just over twenty – 22, to be precise – post offices offer free connectivity, but the Poste Italiane free Wi-Fi hotspot network will soon be extended to cover all of Italy and all operating offices.
The service is provided, as one might easily guess, by Poste Mobile, the mobile telephony operator of the Poste Italiane Group.
Even those who do not have a device for browsing (notebook, netbook, or tablet) will be able to use Poste Italiane‘s free connection: an dedicated space equipped with a PC will be set up inside each post office, thus usable by anyone.
Currently, the 22 post offices covered by free Wi-Fi are located in the municipalities of Rome, Milan, Bologna, Trento, Acqui Terme, Florence, Livorno, Modena, Bari, Taranto, Genoa, Palermo, Cagliari, Modena, Pavia.
