Google announces Transit Navigation, whose beta version allows users to scan maps and public transport in 400 cities worldwide. Furthermore, thanks to Google Maps 5.7 for Android, it will be possible to have offline Android maps with you.
Google takes another step forward with Google Maps, introducing new features for Android: Google Maps 5.7 for Android and Transit Navigation.
The latter is actually an integration with Google Maps 5.7 for Android, useful for quickly obtaining public transport information such as travel times, traffic conditions, and schedules. Currently, 400 cities are mapped and therefore equipped with this service, for which surface use is currently recommended, given that network coverage in subways is not universal. The Transit Navigation application will be very useful when you are in unfamiliar cities: besides being a sort of navigator, it is set up to signal the moment to get off at the correct bus stop.
To test the service in Italy, here are the cities where it is already active:
– Naples;
– Turin;
– Modena;
– Brescia;
– La Spezia;
– Como;
– Reggio Emilia;
– Genoa;
– Tuscany (along the Regional Transport network).
On this Google page, you can find the complete list of all 400 mapped cities.
Google Maps 5.7 for Android is already available for download on the Market, so you can always carry offline Android maps with you, a significant convenience.
