The provider of one of the chats of Youporn It was hacked and thousands of accounts were compromised, including stolen passwords and of email addresses now known and published.
Few hours and the registration data used on Youporn have been put online: a malicious hacker has hit the provider that manages, in particular, one of the internal chats on Youporn.
The incident occurred on Tuesday evening and, after a couple of hours offline, the well-known portal for uploading and viewing video Red Light District is back to working but with less passwords and email addresses.
Around 15 million people visit Youporn every day, but not all of them register for the site's services: only those who upload videos and those who wish to enter the chats made available open a personal account.
It is estimated that they may have been approximately 6,400 profiles hacked and that the related passwords, including the email address, quickly ended up online, becoming public knowledge.
Partial lists have been published by blogs and magazines that covered the event, hence the even wider dissemination of this data stolen by a hacker about whom absolutely nothing is known.
Usually, in fact, those who perform these gestures leave a trace of their passage, as a "signature" of the act just completed.
This time, apparently, there were no clues and therefore it was not possible to link this action to anyone.
As for the emails, it is possible to notice that most were Hotmail addresses, followed by Gmail accounts.
The passwords used were mostly unimaginative; it is no coincidence that some of the most popular ones included “youporn123456789,” “password,” “qwerty123,” and others with a clear pornographic background.
In cases like these, the first recommendation is to change the registration information used on other sites and online services, if they match those stolen from Youporn.
However the Manwin – publisher of Youporn – has released a statement in which they are quick to let it be known that “None of our 4.75 million user accounts were hacked. Our investigation revealed that YP Chat negligently stored unencrypted data on an unprotected server. Some people have claimed that millions of accounts were hacked, but this isn't entirely true.".
The blame and the main problems, therefore, would lie with an external chat service active within Youporn. As expected, the chat in question has already been blocked.
Between official denials and fear on the part of Youporn users, the list of stolen data remains the only certainty, since it is available on Pastebin.
