LG Optimus Pad is the new LG tablet with a noteworthy peculiarity: it allows viewing 3D videos and images. Here is an overview of the technical details and the price of LG Optimus Pad.
A little bird – on Twitter – brought the news of the day to the screens: LG is about to launch LG Optimus Pad, the 3D tablet also arriving in Italy, at a price not exactly affordable for everyone but justified (at least on paper) by the technical characteristics that distinguish it.
What’s special about this device, presented in February during MWC 2011 in Barcelona? It is the first tablet that will allow viewing images, photos, and videos in 3D.
On its screen (a 8.9 inch), 3D details will “emerge”, captured by the dual 5-megapixel camera on the back, capable of also recording 720p HD videos in stereoscopic 3D.
Just like two eyes – exactly like a face – LG Optimus Pad looks from two slightly different but close points.
Once the images are captured, the rest of the quick composition work is up to the internal software that processes and “synchronizes” the two sequences of video clips and/or images, creating a single video, viewable in 3D with the aid of special glasses.
The other camera is front-facing, is 2 Megapixels, and can become a useful tool for making video calls.
Regarding the other technical characteristics, the heart of LG Optimus Pad is a 1GHz Dual Core Tegra 2 CPU from Nvidia.
The operating system is Android 3.0, and applications are already pre-loaded for quick access to your Google account, allowing easy and immediate use of GMail, Google Talk, and products related to your profile.
Speaking of the LG Optimus Pad price, the recommended retail price is 899 euros.
