If you are an active social media user or often read tech-related news, you have probably read about ChatGPT, which was launched for free to the public at the end of November 2022.
If you've never encountered ChatGPT before, in simple terms, it's essentially a type of AI that you can easily converse with via a chat window. Since chatbots have been around for years, you're probably sitting there feeling a little indifferent… but what will blow your mind is that this piece of AI uses a huge set ofdataof text and information to generate a timely response to virtually any question. And when I say huge, I mean HUGE.
As part of its training by its creator OpenAI, ChatGPT was powered by the Internet… so it’s pretty darn smart. If that wasn’t impressive enough, it’s self-learning. This means it can learn from the mistakes you teach it and mimic human conversation so well that it’s hard to tell if you’re talking to a robot or a human!
Since ChatGPT was released publicly, people around the world have been using it extensively, pushing it to its limits to see how useful it can be as a tool to grow their business.
Having personally used ChatGPT over the past few months, I have found it to be incredibly useful! If you are running an Amazon FBA business or are about to, it can save you a ton of time and money. In this article, I will show you how to get started with this amazing technology and how to effectively use it to benefit you and your Amazon FBA business.
Getting started with ChatGPT
First, to start using ChatGPT you will need to create an account via chat.openai.com, which, for the moment, is completely free.
After confirming your email address and logging into your account, you’ll see a button that says “New Chat” in the top left corner. Hitting this will get the ball rolling, although before you start throwing complex requests and Amazon FBA-related activities at your soon-to-be new virtual best friend, I recommend getting a feel for what he’s capable of by asking him a few basic questions and having a chat.
While it may seem strange to converse with a robot, doing this little exercise will help you quickly understand and appreciate response times, accuracy, and the most effective way to phrase questions to get the best response. Chat GTP responses are limited to about 500 words, so if you find that their response isn’t as detailed as you’d like, or hasn’t fully answered the question you asked, you can simply type “continue” and they’ll continue to respond in the next message.
As I mentioned earlier, ChatGPT is self-learning and will incorporate everything you’ve said or heard into subsequent replies, so if you plan on assigning it multiple unrelated tasks, my advice is to hit “new chat” and start over each time.
Once you're comfortable with how ChatGPT works and the best ways to use it, you can start asking it to complete tasks to help you with your Amazon FBA business - here are my top picks:
Task 1: Analyze customer reviews to facilitate product research
Believe it or not, ChatGPT AI can help you with your Amazon FBA product research!
While we’re not at the stage where you can train them to find you a product to sell, what you can do is get them to analyze reviews of any product on Amazon and look for trends and themes. This type of analysis will be a big help if you want to make sure your product has everything that customers love about your competition, while avoiding everything that customers hate.
To have ChatGPT do this analysis for you, you must first download the full list of reviews for any product using Helium 10, which you can do by running the Review Insights tool as part of the Helium 10 Chrome Extension.
Once the Review Insights tool is loaded, select all the poor review scores (1-3) using the filters and export, then repeat the same exercise for the positive review scores (4-5).
Within each file that is downloaded, you can then copy the text of up to 50 reviews, then instruct ChatGPT to analyze the content and create a list summarizing the top 5 things that customers like or dislike about the product (depending on the list you paste). You can also ask it to recommend 5 improvements they would like, as well as anything else you think would be helpful –how easy is it ?
Activity 2: Evaluate Customer Search Terms from Helium 10's Magnet
Helium 10’s Magnet Tool is a keyword research tool that most people use to help them find the right keywords to include in their listing to increase their product’s search page ranking. However, it can also be used to discover sub-niches and product improvement opportunities, especially when combined with ChatGPT.
For this task, you’ll need to have a rough idea of a product niche that you’re interested in – for this example, let’s say ours is “yoga mats.” With this product niche in mind, we’ll head over to the Magnet Tool inside Helium 10, search for the keyword “yoga mat,” and then sort the results in the table by search volume, from top to bottom.
To get ChatGPT to analyze the keywords that Magnet found for us, you will need to export the data, copy the list and paste it into the chat window after typing
”Based on the following customer suggestions, how can I improve my yoga mat product?”
Hit enter and see the results!
Activity 3:bring together the key components of the product list
Once you have found a product that you want to sell on Amazon, you will need to put together your product listing, which includes: the title, bullet points, and a description.
If you’re someone who doesn’t like writing, suffers from writer’s block, or English isn’t your first language, then using ChatGPT to help you put something together is a no-brainer. In my experience, it’s not advanced enough to write compelling lists without a lot of editing and tweaking, but that said, it can still serve as a great starting point for ideas that include the top keywords for your niche.
To get the most effective response from ChatGPT, simply describe what product you are selling, its main features and who it is intended for. Then ask them to write 5 bullet points and a description that summarizes them.
If you want to give it a slightly more advanced task, you can tell ChatGPT what layout style to use for the bullet points, as well as what keywords to include:quite interesting. If you don't like any of the results, tell ChatGPT what to change and why, or just ask it to try again. Because it's self-learning, the more you can fix it, the better it will get.
Combining the results with Helium 10's Listing Builder is a surefire way to ensure your product listing is compelling and also contains the best keywords for your product. SEO.
Task 4: Create your brand and brand story
If you are trying to follow the private label selling strategy with Amazon FBA, at some point you will need to come up with a suitable brand name and then a brand story. Some people find it quite difficult to think of a suitable name for their product, which is no longer a problem with the help of ChatGPT.
To get some free ideas courtesy of AI, simply ask ChatGPT to give you 10 different brand names for the product you’re trying to sell and hit enter. If you don’t like any of the names, ask again and it’ll likely give you a completely different list!
Next, if you need help crafting a brand story or mission statement—something that has been proven to help build an emotional connection with the customer—then ask ChatGPT to do that for you, as long as you give them something to build on, like where you’re from, what you sell, and who the product is for.
Here you can see a fantastic brand story that was created in a very short time, with very little information. You can paste it into your Amazon listing and voilà: your brand story.
Task 5: Communicate with Amazon Customers and Seller Support
As an Amazon FBA business owner, you will undoubtedly receive random questions and messages from customers, some of which may be complaints that really ruin your mood. Rather than risk getting angry and sending a hurtful message to the customer (which I do not recommend doing!), why not ask ChatGPT to respond to the question or complaint in a polite, professional, and courteous manner that resolves the issue without running the risk of receiving a bad review or negative feedback?
All you need to get the best kind of response from the AI is tell it the kind of way you want to respond, whether you want to give a refund or an exchange, and then for some additional context, the kind of business you run.
In addition to using ChatGPT to communicate with customers, you can also use it to communicate with Amazon Seller Support, which is notorious for misunderstanding questions and messages, especially if they are poorly written.
ChatGPT's clear and concise messaging can really help with this problem and can also be used to help you write a plan of action if you ever get suspended. For example, I told them that my account had been suspended for too many faulty items and that I needed to come up with a plan of action to get it reinstated. In no time, it came up with a number of action points to prevent this from happening again, which if I were suspended, I would not hesitate to use. An incredible time saver that I'm sure you can use to get your account back in the event it gets suspended.
If you weren’t familiar with Chat GPT before this article, I’m sure you can appreciate how insanely powerful it is, and it will only get better as time goes on and it continues to improve.
Be sure to create an account now while it's still free and see what else you can get to help you. If you discover any other ways it can help with running an Amazon FBA business, let us know in the comments!
