Although no specific date has been set, the imminent arrival of the iPad 2 on the market appears certain. In February 2011, Apple’s revamped tablet could hit the first distribution shelves, packed with new features.
Still in development and testing in labs, the iPad 2 will almost certainly be slimmer than its larger predecessor, the iPad currently on sale. This necessity is also driven by the competition from the aggressive Samsung Galaxy Tab, which is much lighter than Apple’s devices.
It should be noted that the news regarding the iPad 2 has not been confirmed in any way by the Cupertino headquarters but has leaked from a Taiwanese website: Digitimes.
Digitimes states that anonymous sources close to Foxconn (the factories that assemble the iPad) have indicated that Apple has ordered approximately 600,000 iPad 2 units to be ready by February 2011.
If all this were confirmed, the news about the release of iPad 2 by spring 2011 would be substantiated.
