The primary focus of this initial investigation into the robustness of iPhone 4 is the screen glass. Gorilla Glass – its official name – is a very fragile component and consequently highly prone to repairs. According to findings from a study conducted by SquareTrade, the glass on the iPhone 4 is 82% more likely to break compared to the iPhone 3 within the first 4 months of use. This naturally occurs due to drops or impacts sustained by the device.
These are figures that could make iPhone 4 owners sweat, however, one aspect needs to be highlighted: the iPhone 4 also features glass on its back, making it statistically more probable for such an accident to occur, considering a larger fragile surface area.
Regarding manufacturing defects, no noteworthy anomalies are registered: everything is in line between the iPhone 4 and iPhone 3.
