Samsung Electronics today announced the launch of its brand-new external storage, T7 Shield Portable Solid State Drive (PSSD), capable of delivering extraordinary performance and reliability in a robust design and ultra-compact dimensions. T7 Shield is the latest addition to Samsung’s T7 series of portable SSDs, which also includes the T7, a commonly used drive that offers incredibly high speeds in a sleek configuration, and the T7 Touch, the CES award-winning PSSD, equipped with an integrated fingerprint sensor for enhanced data protection.Â

Robustness with IP65 Protection
T7 Shield is currently Samsung’s most robust PSSD, making it the ideal solution for outdoor content creators or travelers who want a data-rich experience without the worry of losing data due to weather exposure or mishaps. Designed by Samsung with meticulous attention to detail, the T7 Shield is resistant to shocks from drops up to three meters and is IP65 certified for dust and water resistance. Despite its robust construction, the T7 Shield is a compact and lightweight device weighing only 98 grams.
 Extraordinary Performance
The speed guaranteed by T7 Shield is 1050 megabytes per second (MB/s) for reading and 1000 MB/s for writing, representing the highest transfer speeds currently available under the USB 3.2 Gen2 standard. Compared to its predecessor T5, the device offers almost double the speed, while its speed compared to external hard disk drives (HDDs) is 9.5 times faster, resulting in valuable time savings for consumers, professionals, and digital creators.
 Samsung has also optimized both the internal and external aspects of the product by modifying the surface material and improving the software within the T7 Shield to address potential performance reductions and overheating that occur during large file transfers. Thanks to this modification, performance remains unchanged even when transferring 2TB files simultaneously, and heat generation is minimized, thereby resolving potential consumer inconveniences. This solution allows for stable data transmission without performance drops, even when performing continuous tasks involving massive data transfers, including recording, editing, encoding, and rendering high-quality videos. All of this is designed to eliminate any doubts about potential drive performance instability.
Wide Compatibility and Enhanced Security
Designed to work with various devices, Samsung’s T7 Shield can store a wide range of images, games, and 4K and 8K videos on PCs, Macs, Smartphones (Android), or gaming consoles. Furthermore, security in the T7 Shield has been enhanced (*256-bit AES, Advanced Encryption Standard) through hardware encryption, allowing consumer data to be securely protected even if the T7 Shield is lost. It also guarantees access to Samsung’s Magician Software9, designed to allow users convenient drive management.
 Eco-Friendly Packaging
Similarly to other Samsung portable SSD lineups, the packaging used for the T7 Shield is one-third the size of previous generations, with a concurrent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions during production due to improved efficiency.
T7 Shield is available in beige, black, and blue colors to meet user preferences; it is also available in two versions, 1TB and 2TB, to cater to different usage needs. T7 Shield comes with a USB-C to USB-C cable and a USB-C to USB-A cable.
The retail price is €169.99 for the 1TB model, and €319.99 for the 2TB model.
