Sony has announced that the brand new A8 4K HDR OLED TV series, the ultimate expression of the Japanese company’s quality and latest innovations in image and sound processing, will soon be available for purchase in stores.

The beating heart of the A8 series is the X1 Ultimate image processor, designed to precisely analyze data and enhance the contrast typical of OLED screens with absolute blacks, bright highlights, and more realistic images than ever before. The devices are also equipped with the Pixel Contrast Booster function, which enhances tones and contrasts in the highlights to provide vivid shadows and nuances, extreme depth, subtle textures, and all the pure black contrast of OLED. Furthermore, the A8 models are the first OLED televisions ever with X-Motion Clarity™, a proprietary Sony technology that preserves the sharpness and fluidity of the scene even when the action gets intense: movements are controlled with maximum precision to minimize blur and faithfully reproduce high-speed sequences, without compromising brightness.

As in the best Sony tradition, the A8 series also offers a 100% immersive audiovisual experience thanks to Acoustic Surface Audio, the system that transforms the TV screen into a true speaker. The innovative actuator behind the screen imperceptibly vibrates the panel, producing a sound (a dialogue, for example, or the roar of a car engine) that seems to come directly from the point in the scene where the action is taking place. A feature that fits perfectly into Sony’s exclusive One Slate ultra-thin design concept, where the screen extends to the extreme edge of the television to immerse the viewer in the picture without distractions. The two subwoofers discreetly integrated on the back of the TV complete the package with dynamic audio and penetrating bass, perfect especially for action movies and music.

True to its intention to fully respect the creative vision of directors, the new A8 TVs incorporate Netflix Calibrated Mode, a mode specifically developed to enjoy original Netflix platform content with image quality comparable to that of professional broadcast studio monitors and, above all, faithful to the filmmaker’s vision. Not only that: the A8 products are optimized for IMAX Enhanced content, guaranteeing superior colors, contrasts, clarity, and sound to experience entertainment as engaging as a movie theater, even at home.

The Sony A8 4K HDR OLED TVs are equipped with Ambient Optimization, a new technology that refines image and audio quality in any environment. The system adjusts brightness based on the ambient light, increasing it if the room is particularly bright and reducing it if it is dark to achieve perfect viewing. Ambient Optimization can also detect objects that might absorb or reflect sound, such as curtains and furniture, by adjusting the acoustics so as not to compromise performance.

The A8 line includes Android TV with Google Assistant, Google Play Store, and Chromecast built-in to provide immediate access to content, services, and devices through the extensive platform. Sony’s original user interface menus and voice commands have also been refined for a better user experience. With Google Assistant and devices compatible with Amazon Alexa, simply use your voice to cast YouTube videos with Google Home, manage playback, change channels, or turn up the volume. Apple AirPlay 2 users can stream movies, music, games, and photos from their iPhone, iPad, or Mac directly to the TV. Apple HomeKit technology, finally, allows you to easily control the TV from your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
