The world of developing new smartphone and tablet applications is becoming increasingly lively and dynamic, and the major players on the web scene don’t miss out on lucrative “spoils.”
Today, for example, the news of Google’s acquisition of Bump Technologies has arrived.
The official announcement was made through the blog managed directly by the Bump Technologies team, signed by David Lieb, the company’s co-founder and CEO.
The Bump app is long-standing, certainly not new to the landscape of available applications.
For years, in fact, thanks to Bump, it has been possible to transfer files and contacts between two smartphones simply by making them “collide.” The operation is slightly different but equally quick and effective when using Bump on fixed stations, such as PCs.
The data exchange – in both cases – occurs by exploiting wireless mode, practically in real-time.
The company Bump Technologies has also developed the app Flock, useful for sharing photo albums.
It is not yet entirely clear for what purpose Google will use the know-how and applications that have just become part of its portfolio.

It is hypothesized that Bump, in the first instance, could become an app useful for using Google Glass.
Another possible hypothetical scenario is that which would open up with the diffusion of new smartwatches.
Bump could also be used to update and enrich Android Beam, the specific function that can be activated for data transfer via NFC.
